About Hospital

  • Founded on August 1, 1992, the institute is dedicated to delivering world-class healthcare services in cardiovascular and thoracic medicine for adult and pediatric cardiac patients.
  • Also known as IJN, the institute has treated over four million cardiac patients since its inception.
  • Today, the JCI (Joint Commission International) accredited hospital provides a wide array of cardiac services and is entitled as one of the leading Cardiovascular and Thoracic Health Centers in the entire region.

Infrastructure

  • The institute houses 438 beds, 5 operating rooms, 4 invasive cardiovascular laboratories along with an emergency department that functions round the clock.
  • It has 8 wards that include pediatric wards, 18 Intensive Care Unit beds, 12 Coronary Care Unit beds, and 10 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit beds.
  • It also has an International Patient Center (IPC) located on the 6th Floor of Block A at the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
  • The center assists its patients in several matters such as medical coordination, airport transfers, hospital admissions & discharges, medical visa assistance, travel-related assistance, food & accommodation arrangement, language translator services, and evacuation & repatriation services.

Team and Specialities

  • The institute is staffed by a well-experienced and trained team of cardiologists, pediatric cardiologists, surgeons, anaesthesiologists, paramedics, and clinical support staff.
  • The medical staff comprises nearly 22 consultants cardiologists and senior cardiologists who are well-versed in their medical specialty.
  • They have expertise in performing a high volume of coronary angiograms and coronary interventions (angioplasty and stenting) annually.
  • The cardiac laboratories are well-equipped with the latest technology such as echocardiography, multislice CT imaging, nuclear imaging, cardiac MRI, standard 2D echocardiography (with M-mode, color flow imaging, and Doppler), pulse-wave and color tissue Doppler imaging (TDI), 3D echocardiography, 2D-strain echocardiography (speckle tracking), 2D and 3D transesophageal echocardiography, dobutamine stress, and treadmill stress echocardiography and intra-operative transesophageal echocardiography.
  • They also provide other services such as electrocardiograms (ECG), treadmill stress testing, and heart rhythm monitoring systems (24-hour Holter, ‘King of Hearts, and rhythm cards).
